What a fantastic day chairing the RCOG meeting on update on infections in pregnancy. Great speakers, hot debates, interactive audience and excellent feedback!
A number of pathogens can infect pregnant women and can harm the fetus or lead to the loss of the pregnancy. The burden of some of these infections, such as congenital CMV, is high and the consequences far reaching. The current knowledge and awareness of the screening, prevention and treatment of some of these infections among healthcare professionals is variable and sometimes outdated. Furthermore, the practice and recommendations in this field are constantly changing, e.g. pertussis vaccine in pregnancy.
This one-day course is aimed at trainees, obstetricians, midwives, GPs, sonographers and neonatologists. It will provide a comprehensive update on the management of infections during pregnancy, including screening, diagnosis, prevention, complications and treatment.
